Inspired by Netflix’s “You are what you eat”

Although the Netflix’s documentary on “You are what you eat” was based on a 12 week trial, the trial with my mom has been for two years now. From my previous blog (yesterday) I have before and after photos of my mom and our trial together. The trial on “You are what you eat” was vegan verses omnivore for a certain amount of twins that were to eat these particular diets for 12 weeks and see the results. Since twins share the same DNA this study was to look at their body composition or biological clock, their microbiome and the brain of their alternate twins; while they ate vegan verses carnivore different. They were also on exercise programs. The study revealed that different diets affect visceral fat, energy levels and contribution to inflammation. When eating healthy plant based diet, their gut or microbiome is healthier and visceral fat is reduced. The results of this study were outstanding in such a short time. The plant based group’s cognitive health had increased and their cholesterol had dropped drastically. The participant’s biological age was younger than their chronological age and that of their meat eating twin. That had tests done for the inflammation in their blood and the meat group’s inflammation was 350% higher than their counterparts. Again, this is not here-say. Also, this test or study was for twelve weeks. As with Dr Gupta’s research, people have seen results in 12 weeks, but like fasting diets you can’t expect things to remain unchanged if you go back to your ways after the twelve weeks. In order for something to continuing succeeding you must keep it up. The example that I have about our trial is that when went on vacation for three weeks without my mom she gained eleven pounds back, did not go for walks and refrained into her sedentary life. No problem. We got back on track and now the results are seen with her.

Well the proof is with my mother. She no longer shows any traces of high cholesterol in her blood, she no longer experiences excruciating pain in her back and she walks more freely (with more energy) everyday. So let us try eating healthier so we can enjoy the pleasures of life with our family and friends. Start by trying out our menu from Cantine Kat!
