Back to blogging after our launch

Welcome back to Cantine Kat’s blog. A lot has changed since my first blog. I have been busy with my mom, finalizing the skeletal menu of our website and started advertising on social media about our cause. Our mission is to provide healthy alternatives to eating carnivore meals to protect us and our families and the environment; without sacrificing taste and texture of what we have become accustomed to for so many years. Also, we have been encouraged feverishly to believe in our healthy standards of eating, according to our governmental food guidelines. We are not trying to revolutionize the food choices of people, just encouraging an alternative.

We believe that food is sacred and cultural to everyone and their families. Food is also a necessity for living and it brings back memories for most people. It is difficult to think that we would be giving that all up for health reasons; but the real flavors are in the spices, not the animal. Apart from a tartar, have you ever eaten a meat patty without any spice or preparation; not to mention hazardous to your health. It is the spice and the barbecuing… that makes it so delicious. It is the same with the plant based alternatives like “Impossible”, “Beyond”, or “Gusto”. With the right preparation and most importantly the right combination of spices it is just as good and at times even better. Most importantly it is healthy for us and the environment. Also it has plenty of fiber, protein and it satifies your appetite. These alternatives sometimes contain a worrisome amount of sodium but we must avoid using extra salt to flavor those recipes because they have enough. Instead add other flavored spices to make a difference. Other anti-vegetarian minds will argue that we cannot have enough protein when we eat plant based foods; however, tofu, beans, nuts, eggs, yogurt and many other sources of foods have plenty of protein.

Most decisions in life have their pros and cons just like drinking alcohol. In the past, it was encouraged to have a couple of glasses of wine within one week, but after further research there is no amount recommended. The same applies for our food. There are so many foods (because of their preparation) that are carcinogenic; yet, we loved to eat our bacon, sausages, mortadella… And now we are reminded everyday that these foods should be avoided. Most importantly, inflammation is the main disadvantage of what meats cause humans. It is also one of the reasons for pain that we suffer. Not to go on preaching, I will stop and encourage you to try Cantine Kat’s way or another plant based source and see if we can lead healthier lives, please.
